Every tiny bit of me is achy and tired. I don’t have any idea when it will ease. Thankfully she is home. She is in good spirits. My wife has to be the toughest person I know. Iam so glad she will be fine when the healing is done. Today was, I don’t know what to call it. Maybe an adventure. I was at the hospital for the noon discharge that didn’t happen until 4pm. It was a debacle getting the hospital to use the correct pharmacy and to provide the walker. Finally the deliver the walker to us and confirmed the pharmacy. Great! She made it into and around the house just fine. It’s not her first rodeo with a walker. I put together and install the toilet booster and made the bathroom ADA compliant with a couple of pull bars in the shower. She had to have a shower now! I don’t blame her. It’s been a week since she had one. She did great without any help. Afterwards, I ran to the pharmacy to pick up her pain meds. They had them, but they couldn’t give them to me because the hospital cancelled the order. What the hell? It was 5:15 and the close at 6:00. This is when I started to panic. I asked the pharmacist what he would do. He gave me the phone number of the hospital trauma unit. He didn’t give me a lot of hope, but said he would call too. I called the trauma unit and was transferred to 3 different nurses. All were kind, but time was ticking away. The third nurse was my wife’s nurse. She said she doesn’t know how it was cancelled, but said she would find a doctor to write the order and send it in. I waited on hold for about 10 minutes. She came on the line and said she found a doctor, the script was submitted, and they were on the phone with the pharmacy. I picked up the meds at 5:57pm. It was a miracle made by many people who went beyond to ensure a patient received much needed meds. My day really was a whirl wind that started early. I don’t see my days being very relaxing for a while. My chores, her chores, and helping her with whatever she needs is a lot. She is pretty self reliant and doesn’t need encouragement to push herself to do more. She really is an amazing person. She keeps thanking me. It is so unnecessary. I would do anything for her as I know she would for me. I have been starving and craving sugar and all things sweet for the last several days even after my shot on Friday. I’ve gained 2 lbs. I am disappointed. I do realize or bodies bounce around a little, but all of this indicates I need a higher dose AND stress has a huge impact our our bodies and behaviors. I sent a request the the doctor for a higher dose. I can’t wait to get my hands on a plunger. How did I ever manage this before? I am off to bed. I hope it’s a restful sleep. I need it. Asleep 10:45 / meds at 8:45
